Word Processing Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Word Processing - Assignment Example Many people therefore access PCs since they are affordable rather than purchasing the Mac computers. In another case concerning better variety aspects, PCs are available with numerous configurations compared to Mac computers which have less variety because of being limited to only Mac Mini, iMac and Mac Pro (Towers, 32). The PCs have a better broadband support which involves the Internet Service Provider (ISP) compared to Mac machine which do no effectively work with the ISP. On the other hand Mac allows running windows via Boot Camp in a way which is legal as PCs posses a support system which is wide in terms of freeware and ecosystem options. The Internet Service Provider (ISP) such as broad bands has been introduced in relation to PCs and Mac computers usage (Towers, 12). There are many pros and cons in relation to PCs and Mac machines such as computers. In respect to pros of the PCs, compatibility is enhanced since every application; either game or driver will work on windows in context. Another pro of the PCs is that there is enhancement of technical support since there are many users who can offer one help with windows. The cons of the PCs include, the availability of viruses making individuals to buy anti-virus programs although free ones are available (Towers, 18). Another con is that PCs be come slow since their windows require a lot of computer resources such as processor. On the other hand, pros of the Mac computer include, Apple Macs almost having no viruses compared to PCs. One of the cons of the Mac computers is that they are expensive compared to PCs and they are only available on Apple computers. I recommend that one should use the Mac computers since they are more convenient compared to PCs. The PCs are old-fashioned and traditionally based while the Mac computers are the modern ones technologically. When Mac computers are purchased, they are not pre-loaded with trial ware and crapware unlike PCs which need new pre-installed programs.

Mass media not only gives the latest news and trends Essay Example for Free
Mass media not only gives the latest news and trends Essay Over decades, mass media has been used to propagate information to the target audience. It has been a powerful tool that has been used by different people to express their interests on their audience. However, it comes with both positive and negative effects to the society depending on the channel used. Sometimes, channels are not sensitive on the kind of audience thus arousing fear, controversy, violence, or other emotions associated with the message being conveyed. Many experts have conducted research on the effects of mass media on the youth (Guarino Carter, 2013). Their findings indicate that mass media has a positive effect on the young people due to its educative nature. However, they advise that the youth should be exposed to information that is in synch with their development phase. All the media sources enhance knowledge through provision of information. For instance, news increases self-awareness by updating the audience about the daily events happening in the society. This develops concern about social issues within the population segment, which is most productive. Mass media not only gives the latest news and trends, but also contributes to the enhancement of vocabularies and command of language. Young Launer (2011) explain that advancement of general knowledge leads to the rise of a youthful population that is able to express their views with appropriate language that alleviates conflicts and controversies as a result of misunderstandings. The print media is vital for the development of a reading culture in the society. The habits ensure that the youth are well informed on the social trends and other aspects that are vital for socio-economic growth in the whole social matrix (Bacal, 2013). Studies indicate that the methods used to deliver information influences the cognitive processing capacity of the audience. Moreover, the methods improve the learning progress of the youth since their brains are at their optimum learning phase. Axon (2011) states that significant knowledge gains have been witnessed when the participants are exposed to current affairs, social issues, and other forms of information based on varying contexts. Due to the broad range of information being propagated, mass media overwhelms us with tons of information. The nature and amount of information increases the brainââ¬â¢s capacity to gain more knowledge. So, mass media creates an avenue that stimulates the need for exploration and curiosity, which are essential for effective development of the brain (Donohue, 2011). In addition, mass media develops the reflective segment of the brain that processes the factual, objective, and analytic elements, which influence response to varying situations. The development of this segment leads the person to have rational thoughts: they are the ones that determine the formulation of response depending on the situation. Therefore, the youth who are conversant with the dynamics of mass media develop a balance between the real world and the environment created by media activities. The efficiency of knowledge acquisition and retain ability depends on the ability of the mind to access long sequences of information and putting it together in order to establish relationships. Wilson (2011) explains that our culture is dominated by activities which improve declarative memory if well utilized. Therefore, mass media is a major contributor to the development of various segments of the brain, which is an advantageous effect on the young population since they are a part of the target audience. In his article, Debatin (2013) further explains that mass media has profound effects on the modern culture. The availability of constant information influences the social behavior of the youthful population due to the nature of messages being propagated. They not only promote the intended interests, but also stimulate attitudes, moods, and other forms of emotions that define social behavior. Therefore, mass media influences the transformation of the social and cultural values of the general audience. The influential nature of media contributes to positive development of thoughts and behavioral patterns of the youth. The media has contributed to positive transformation of the way people think. In reference to Gentile (2011), cultivation of good behavioral patterns strengthens the social bonds in the community. It also creates a young population that is able to work and live together as a way of developing the country. The advent of media technologies that enable propagation of information to all population segments has led to effective social control. Through media, announcements, advertisements, and messages that require the audience to follow some form of instruction is possible. This has been made successful by the strong link that exists between the youth and mass media (Gunther, 2013). Its positive effect has created an audience that is obedient and flexible to the changes occurring in the society. In addition, the media influences the health status among the youth by providing educative programs about physical fitness and diet. The programs can be used to influence the lifestyle of the young people by offering nutritional recommendations that promote a healthy lifestyle. Statistics indicate that commercials that encourage healthy eating take fourteen percent of the time spent by the youth in mass media platforms (Moran, 2013). Since the young people make up the most active population segment, many companies target them. Products such as alcohol and cigarettes are mostly consumed by the young people. The mass media can be used to influence their consumption behavior through passive advertisements, which discourage their use. Therefore, the mass media can be used as a positive influence on the social behavior of the target population (Sterin, 2011). Oliver Jinhee (2012) explain that one of the positive media effects is the enhancement of interpersonal relationships and communication. They further elaborate that the interpersonal relationships developed influence the complex social dynamics. This is because the messages propagated affect the social institutions depending on their context as a major deciding factor on the choice of their response. Therefore, the efficient delivery of information to the target audience is a fundamental factor for determining effective interactions in the society. Porfilio, Car, Miranda (2011) state that media activities change peoplesââ¬â¢ perspective on various issues that affect society. These activities cultivate positive perceptions on the modern youth over time due to continuous exposure to mass media. Although the creation of perceptions is a complex process, it shapes the methods, which the audience approaches social challenges resulting to the development of better social norms. Therefore, the role of mass media in manipulating perceptions within the social context comes with positive consequences on the young population. In conclusion, the amount of benefits derived from mass media depends on how its capacities are utilized. Its influential nature can be used to create social trends that promote better lifestyle, which is an essential factor for optimizing human capital. In addition, it has made the world a global village where information reaches its target audience within a short time irrespective of their locations. This availability of information is vital for expanding the information processing capabilities of the modern young population. It also expands the knowledge base and command of various issues of concern in the society. At the same time, it creates self-awareness and a sense of responsibility among the young population. Therefore, the mass media has positive effects on the population segment under consideration. References Axon, D. (2011). Effects of Mass media on the Society. The Time to Choose is Now :: essays papers
The Time to Choose is Now A fatigued traveler approaches a clearing in a forest where a cloaked woman stands. ââ¬Å"Where am I?â⬠he asks. Silence. The woman, instead, counters with a question of her own. ââ¬Å"I greet you at the Crossroads of Time, my friend. Or is it foe? Would you like to feel my love or to feel my wrath? It is but your choice.â⬠ââ¬Å"Iââ¬âdo not know you, butââ¬ââ⬠ââ¬Å"Answer correctly!â⬠ââ¬Å"I hope to be a friend, althoughââ¬ââ⬠ââ¬Å"Then you shall learn much,â⬠she interrupted. Out of her cloak emerged a slim, delicate hand, gesturing upwards as if holding a fragile object. An image projected out of that ghost-like palm, showing three paths. Although muffled, the figure spoke: ââ¬Å"Three paths lie in the journey of lifeâ⬠¦three very different paths.â⬠The semblance focused on the left-hand passage. ââ¬Å"To the left you see a barren land where only the Devil dares to dwell.â⬠As she spoke, a column of white fire erupted from the dead earth. ââ¬Å"The course on the right shows an unending paradise filled with majestic phenomena nurtured only by the holy God.â⬠Multi-colored creatures glide through the clear sky. She paused, staring at the middle path. Filled with uncertain fear, she tightened her gaze upon the projection. Finally, the woman spoke. "Towards the middle lies a path, cloaked with intangible forests, where only the bravest enter.â⬠She stared directly into the stranger's eyes before continuing. ââ¬Å"Those who go in never come out.â⬠The woman tilted her head slightly, allowing a slight shaft of light to penetrate the impending darkness. Seeming to read his mind, she repeated the question he mentally asked. ââ¬Å"Why? Because of an indestructible danger? Or of a pleasure so great that it gives no leave. That is for you, vagabond, to find out.

The Body Ritual of the Nacirema Essay -- Horace Miner Egocentrism Essa
The Body Ritual of the Nacirema It is human nature to describe one's own culture as the most advanced and most intellectual. Unfortunately, it is also common practice to look down upon the practices of another culture because they are not similar to one's own traditions. The ability to do this can sometimes be a damaging characteristic for society as a whole. Horace Miner realized the implications of egocentric views and wrote a groundbreaking essay to open society's eyes to their biases. 'The Body Ritual of the Nacirema' was written by Horace Miner for shock value. The article describes the rituals of a people which on the surface seem to be barbaric and highly out of date for that time at which the article was written. Some of the rituals described were women voluntarily baking their heads in ovens and visits to a 'holy-mouth man', which were extremely painful and costly, in order to gain social acceptance from their peers. Another unheard of tradition described in this essay was that of the sick people going to a temple where they had to give very large gi...

Twelve Keys to Answered Prayer
TWELVE KEYS TO ANSWERED PRAYER Why does God not answer most peopleââ¬â¢s prayers? Do you know how to pray in a way that will get real results? Here are 12 practical steps that will help secure the favor of God for answered prayer! Key #1ââ¬âPray Sincerely to the True God It is absolutely vital that you pray to the very real God of the Bible if you expect genuine answers to your prayers. He reveals Himself to mankind in many waysââ¬âin creation, in the Bible, in His foretelling specific divine intervention in world affairs and in direct ANSWERS to those who seek and obey Him through fervent holy worship. In our modern, ecumenical (worldwide) approach to religion, we may think that praying to some vague ââ¬Å"blobâ⬠in the sky or to an idol of Buddha is just the same as praying to the CREATORââ¬âthe God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Israel and Jesus Christ, but it is not the same at all! The true God was revealed by Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:27). To one of His disciples, He said, ââ¬Å"Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known MEâ⬠¦? We read of Jesus Christ acknowledging that God was a loving, divine Personââ¬âa ââ¬Å"Father. And we see the Father acting through Christ to heal the sick, to comfort the downcast and to teach those whom He calls to keep not only the Ten Commandments, but all of His words as a way of life (Matthew 19:17). Christ also set an example for us in praying to the Father: ââ¬Å"Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, ââ¬ËFather, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify Youââ¬â ¢Ã¢â¬ (John 17:1). We serve an awesome God, with limitless power and glory! When you get down on both knees and lift up your hands in prayer to the great CREATOR of the universe, you should think of to whom you are praying. Remember that He is not only the Creator, but also the active Sovereign ruler of the entire universe and the Bible says that it is Godââ¬â¢s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom and all that is contained in it. Be sure you always pray specifically to This Godââ¬âthe true Godââ¬âand to no other. As you begin your prayer, think about whom you are praying to and consciously worship this Great God who gives you life and breath. Key # 2ââ¬âStudy the Bible It naturally follows that praying to the true God involves believing what He says. And we find His wordsââ¬âinstructing human beings how they should liveââ¬âin the Holy Bible. It reveals essential knowledge that we could not acquire in any other way. It is Godââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Instruction Manualâ⬠for humanity. It tells us who God is what He is like and how we ought to serve Him. In its pages we find Godââ¬â¢s own instructions (not suggestions) as to how we ought to live for and pray to Him. You will not receive this full instruction by just ââ¬Å"going to churchâ⬠or by carelessly reading bits and pieces of the Bible for comfort or inspiration. God commands us in His Word, ââ¬Å"Earnestly study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman unashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truthâ⬠(2 Timothy 2:15). To know God, to understand His will and to believe in His promises, one needs to regularly study His inspired Word in an orderly wayââ¬âjust as you might study a science textbook or a volume on history. A good place to start is the book of Matthew. Read this through slowly and carefullyââ¬ânoting what Jesus actually said, paying particular attention to the many examples of answered prayer. Key #3ââ¬âDeeply Repent of Your Sins Although from time to time God hears the prayers of anyone who sincerely cries out to Him in time of need, He is not bound by His Word to do this. Godââ¬â¢s Word says, ââ¬Å"Behold the Lordââ¬â¢s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear dull, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hearâ⬠(Isaiah 59:1-2). It is not our job to psychoanalyze or ââ¬Å"spiritually dissectâ⬠those who have not had their prayers answered in the past. But we have a duty to ask ourselves: ââ¬Å"Do I worship the true God? Do I do His will? Please be honest with yourself. It is easy to rationalize or to reason around this very clear scriptural teaching about obeying Godââ¬â¢s law for having your prayers answered. As you grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18), He will live His life in you more and more fully over the course of your Christian life. Certainly you will not be perfect (mature) all at once, and no human being has ever been perfect (spotless) except Jesus Christ Himself. But you will be walking in the way of the Ten Commandments by surrendering to Him. By walking with Christ in this manner, you can be assured of having more powerful answers to your prayers than ever before. Key #4 Forgive Others Another vital key to answered prayer is our willingness to truly FORGIVE others. Frankly, our loving Father in heaven simply does not hear those who come to Him in a spirit of revenge, bitterness or hatred. Immediately after giving us the ââ¬Å"Lordââ¬â¢s Prayerâ⬠ââ¬âthe outline prayer describing the right general approach to talking with Godââ¬âJesus went on to instruct His followers: ââ¬Å"If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also for give you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses neither will your Father for give your trespassesâ⬠(Matthew 6:14-15). And Psalm 66:18-20 says, ââ¬Å"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: but verily (truly) God hath heard me: He hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be the God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me. â⬠Key #5ââ¬âSeek Godââ¬â¢s Will Another key to successful prayer is to be absolutely sure thatââ¬âas far as possibleââ¬âyou align your will and your requests with Godââ¬â¢s will. As you zealously study the Bible and yield to let Christ live within you, His will increasingly replaces your own. It affects how you pray. You come to realize that God has made all men and women in His imageââ¬âthat He will call all mankind to understanding and repentance in His own time. With this in mind, you will not be praying just for your own good, but for the good of others as well. Then you can sincerely say to God, as Jesus did: ââ¬Å"Not My will, but Yours be doneâ⬠(Luke 22:42). Remember this key phrase from the outline prayer of Jesus in Matthew 6, ââ¬Å"Your will be done on earth as it is in heavenâ⬠(v. 10). We all need to focus on this as we pray. What is really best for us and everyone concerned in the long runââ¬âonly God knows for sure! On the other hand, the Bible contains literally dozens of promises and/or direct indications of what God has done or will do in regard to answered prayer. If we pray in faith that God will hear usââ¬âand in accordance to His willââ¬âwe may be sure that He is listening. ââ¬Å"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Himâ⬠(1 John 5:14-15). Key #6ââ¬âHave Faith in God The more you drink in of the Bible, the more deeply you will realize the importance of FAITH. But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Himâ⬠(Heb. 11:6). The bottom line is that you cannot please God without Faith, and generally speaking, the Bible makes it crystal clear that God will not hear and answer your prayer s unless you come to Him in faith. ââ¬Å"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lordâ⬠(James 1:6). We need to take careful note of this vital teaching of Jesus Christ with respect to prayer and faith: ââ¬Å"Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you whoever says to this mountain, ââ¬ËBe removed and be cast into the sea,ââ¬â¢ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say unto you, whatever things you ask when you pray, BELIEVE that you receive them, and you WILL have themâ⬠(Mark 11:22-24). By continually drinking in of the Bible and praying for faith, you will find that your faith will increase more and more. Understand that living faith is produced by Godââ¬â¢s Holy Spirit within us, and Jesus said, ââ¬Å"If you then, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy spirit to those who ask Him! â⬠(Lk. 11:13). God wants to give us those things we ask for if we humbly ask for them and our motives and priorities are not selfish ones. So we need to pray to Him continually to give us the FAITH we need. We need to learn to BELIEVE in the promises of God. We need to learn to believe that God is REALââ¬âthat He has perfect wisdom, perfect love and perfect POWER. Realize that He will KEEP all his promises! We need to learn to imitate Abraham, the father of the faithful (Romans 4:16), for he ââ¬Å"did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also ABLE to performâ⬠(Rom. 4:20-21). This is real faith. This is the attitude you must have to receive genuine answers to your prayers. Key # 7ââ¬âBe Persistent If your child asks you just once for a bicycle and then seemingly forgets about it and never brings the subject up again how deep is his or her desire for it? How much do you think they would appreciate it if they did get one? And so it is when we ask for something from our Heavenly father. Before He supernaturally intervenes, God wants to know that we deeply desire whatever we ask for, and that we will respect and worship Him for answering our prayer. In other words, God uses our need or desire as a vehicle to draw us closer to Him, spirituallyââ¬âto cause us to focus on His will and on what is really best for us and for any others who might be involved. If we carelessly ask for something, and then virtually forget that we ever did, what would that indicate? It might tell God that we are not all that interested in His doing what we ask! Or it could be that all our desires are shallow, perhaps constantly changing, and that we would not feel a deep sense of appreciation and worship even if He constantly answered such shallow prayers! (See Luke 18:1-8). God wants us to be persistent. He wants us to walk with Him, talk with Him and commune with Him continuallyââ¬âday after day in this age, and ultimately throughout eternity! The Apostle Paul instructs us to ââ¬Å"pray without ceasingâ⬠(1 Thess. 5:17). David said in Psalm 55:16-17, ââ¬Å"As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. â⬠So pray regularly. Spend plenty of TIME communing with Jesus Christ and your Heavenly Father. And neverââ¬âEVERââ¬âstop praying to God! For, in more ways than one, your very life depends upon this contact! Key #8ââ¬âPray Fervently In Hosea 7:14 God cites as one of the reasons He did not hear the prayers of ancient Israel was that ââ¬Å"and they have not cried unto Me with their heart. The Moffatt translation of this same verse reads, ââ¬Å"They never put their Heart into their prayers. â⬠What about us? Do you and I pray with our entire being? Or do we just rattle off a memorized prayer like some pagan chant or perhaps sleepily mumble a few half-hearted requests to God just before drifting off to sleep? Again, remember Jesusââ¬â¢ example of getting up early to pray to the Father. For prayer was vitally important to Christ. That is why He apparently put it first on His scheduleââ¬âbefore anything else could interfere. And he probably came back to God repeatedly as the day progressed. The Book of Hebrews tells us about Christââ¬â¢s passionate, heartfelt prayers: ââ¬Å"Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fearâ⬠(Heb. 5:7). It is good to go to a private place to pray as Jesus instructed in Matthew 6. Alone, we can occasionally cry out to our temptations or difficulties where only the help of God Himself can fully take care of the situation. In Luke 22:44 Jesus was crying out to His Father in such an intense and passionate manner that some of His capillaries may have literally burstââ¬âfilling certain sweat ducts with blood. In our modern secular, hedonistic, laid back society, we need to grasp that the truly vital issues of life are not material. Rather, they are spiritualââ¬âhaving to do with our Creator and with all eternity. They are certainly worthy of getting excited about. So let us put our hearts into our prayers. Let us be fervent! Let us be passionate as we pour out our hearts to the awesome Personality who wants to be our real Father: the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternityâ⬠(Isaiah 57:15). Key #9ââ¬âAsk God to Fashion and Mold You A genuine man or woman of God is one who has totally surrendered to the will of the Creator. Through the Prophet Isaiah God tells us: ââ¬Å"But on this one will I look: on Him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My wordâ⬠(Isa. 66:2). This attitude of seeking Godââ¬â¢s will rather than our ownââ¬âof total submission to our Heavenly fatherââ¬âis vital to our prayer life if we are to receive constant and powerful answers. Do you want to truly grow spiritually? Listen to Ephesians 4:13: ââ¬Å"Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. â⬠If youââ¬â¢re serious about growing and becoming mature then we need to all ââ¬Å"wrestle with Godâ⬠in our prayers as Jacob literally wrestled with Him and prevailed (Gen. 32:24-32). We need to engage Him in long, thoughtful conversation about how we can more fully yield to Him, walk with Him in our lives. We need to constantly ask God to help us fulfill the great PURPOSE for which we were born. It is fineââ¬âwithin limitsââ¬âto pray for physical things. BUT THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE OF PRAYER IS TO HELP US FOCUS ON GOD, YIELD TO HIM AND SURRENDER OUR WILL TO HIS AS WE CULTIVATE A VITAL INTERACTIVE RELATIONSHIP. In this way He becomes increasingly real to us. Through constant and heartfelt Bible Study and prayer we must seek Godââ¬â¢s will. We must grasp that our past ideas and attitudes about God and religion in general need much improvement. This process will bring us to a point in our lives where we learn to walk with Him, talk with Him, quietly commune with Him off and on all day long. Sincerely ask Him to mold you into His own image. The approach of yielding to God as you pray, of asking Him to rebuke and chasten and fashion you, is one of the vital keys to really powerful prayer. Key #10ââ¬âGive Praise and Thanks to Almighty God Another of the qualities that made King David a man after Godââ¬â¢s own heart was the sincere love, worship and adoration that he continually expressed toward the great creator who blessed him, sustained him and guided him. The entire Book of Psalms is literally filled with Davidââ¬â¢s prayers of worship and adoration. Listen to Psalm 18:1-3, ââ¬Å"I will love you, O Lord my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. â⬠Fifty (50) verses and David never asked for one thing! All he does is give God praise and thanks for what He has already done. When was the last time you got down on your knees or walked on your feet and just gave God continuous repetitious praise and thanks for what He has already done? We need to constantly thank and praise God for every good gift and for His help and blessing in every situation (1 Thess. 5:18). Instead of losing control in our enthusiasm for sports figures, rock and rap stars or any other human idols, let us unashamedly pour out our whole being in thanking, praising and worshiping the God who made us and who gives us life and breath. This is the God who forgives us time and time and time again, who guides and blesses us, and who in the endââ¬âplans to share His eternal glory with us if we will only respond and learn to love Him as He loves us. Key #11ââ¬âPray in the Name of Jesus Christ To truly and correctly use Jesusââ¬â¢ name in prayer we must OBEY Him and again ask according to His will. Remember that in the Sermon on the Mount, Christ warned: ââ¬Å"Not everyone who says to Me, ââ¬ËLord, Lord,ââ¬â¢ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Those who do not really know the true God or His way are simply not capable of properly coming before Him in the name of Jesus Christ. To pray in the name of Jesus is to approach the throne of God through the nameââ¬âthe office and authority of Jesus Christ who gives us access to the very throne room of God. So as you approach God in heartfelt, regular prayer, be sure you are obeying your Lord and Master Jesus Christ. Though He does not expect instant spiritual maturity, He does want us to walk in His way through the help of the Holy Spirit. When we do we can then come to the Father through Christ alone to make the direct contact of effective prayer. And remember, James said, ââ¬Å"the effectual (unceasing) fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth muchâ⬠(James 5:16b). Key #12ââ¬âEXPECT AN ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!

Discover William Inges Play Picnic
Discover William Inge's Play 'Picnic' Picnic is a three-act play written by William Inge, the author of Bus Stop and Come Back, Little Sheba. Set in a small town in Kansas, Picnic details the lives of ordinary Americans, from hopeful widows and embittered spinsters to idealistic teenagers and restless wanderers. The play was first performed on Broadway in 1953 and was adapted into a motion picture in 1955, starring William Holden and Kim Novak. The Basic Plot Mrs. Flora Owens, a widow in her forties, runs a boarding house with the help of her two teenage daughters, Madge and Millie. Madge is constantly admired for her physical beauty, but she longs to be acknowledged for something more substantial. Her younger sister, on the other hand, has brains but not a boyfriend. A young stranger (who at first seems like a vagrant) is passing through town, working for food at the neighbors house. His name is Hal, a strong, shirtless, sometimes shifty hero of the play. Nearly all of the female characters are entranced by him, especially Madge. However, (and heres where the conflict starts to come into play) Madge has a serious boyfriend named Alan, an up-and-coming college student who leads a life of privilege. In fact, Hal has breezed into town hoping that Alan (his old college buddy) will be able to use his connections to land him a job. Alan is happy to help, and for a short time, it seems that Hal might be able to give his aimless life direction. Although handsome, Hal isnt the most cultured of young men. During the Labor Day festivities, he feels very awkward while socializing with others. Mrs. Owens and her tenant Rosemary, an aging school teacher, do not trust Hal, maintaining their first impression that deep down he is merely a bum. The communitys perception of Hal worsens when he allows Millie to drink whiskey. (Although in Hals defense, the illegal booze is supplied by Rosemarys boyfriend, Howard the traveling salesman. While Millie is getting drunk, Rosemary (also under the influence) makes a move on Hal while dancing. When he is uncomfortable with the school teachers advances, Rosemary viciously insults Hal. Millie then becomes sick and Hal is blamed, incurring the wrath of Mrs. Owens. The Plot Thickens: (Spoiler Alert) The increasing animosity toward Hal softens Madges heart. She feels both empathy and desire. When Alan isnt around, Hal steals a kiss from Madge. Then, the two lovebirds (or lust birds?) have sex. The copulation doesnt occur onstage, of course, but a sudden natural portrait of premarital sex demonstrates how Inges dramatic work was a harbinger of the sexual revolution of the 1960s. When Alan finds out, he threatens to have Hal arrested. He even throws a punch at his ex-friend, but Hal is too fast and strong, easily defeating the book-wormish college boy. Realizing that he must catch the next train (hobo style) and leave town before the cops toss him in jail, Hal departs - but not before announcing his love for Madge. He tells her: HAL: When you hear that train pull outa town and know Im on it, your little hearts gonna be busted, cause you love me, God damn it! You love me, you love me, you love me. Moments later, after Hal has caught the train headed for Tulsa, Madge packs her bags and leaves home for good, planning to meet up with Hal and begin a new life together. Her mother is shocked and despondent as she watches her daughter head off into the distance. The wise neighbor Mrs. Potts consoles her. FLO: Shes so young. There are so many things I meant to tell her, and never got around to it. MRS. POTTS: Let her learn them for herself, Flo. The Sub-Plots As with other plays by William Inge, an ensemble of characters deal with their own squashed hopes and wistful pipedreams. Other storylines that run throughout the play involve: Rosemary and her reluctant boyfriend: By the end of the play she coerces Howard into marriage, allowing her to shed her old maid lifestyle.Mrs. Potts and her elderly mother: Surprisingly optimistic about life, Mrs. Potts is often tied down by the demands of her severely debilitated mother.Millie and Alan: After Madges relationship with Alan falls apart, Millie finds the courage to admit that she has always had a crush on the young man. (And who can blame her? The original Alan was played by Paul Newman.) Themes and Lessons The prevailing message of Picnicà is that youth is a precious gift that must be savored instead of squandered. In the plays beginning, Flo speculates that her daughter might be working at the towns dime store well into her 40s, a depressing idea for Madge. In the plays conclusion, Madge embraces adventure, thwarting the convention wisdom of older characters. Throughout the play, the adult characters envy the young. During her tirade aimed at Hal, Rosemary vehemently declares: You think just cause youre young you can push people aside and not pay them any mind... But you wont stay young forever, didja ever thinka that?

Everything You Need to Know about Economics Research Paper Writing
Everything You Need to Know about Economics Research Paper Writing Why do exactly students need to write research papers? If there is a certain question, why is it not enough just to provide the answer? Well, we bet you would be really happy if that was possible, but the point is not in answering the question, but proving that you are right and describing the process of how you have come to that. Sounds complicated? It is so if you have no idea what to do, but you are no longer in that situation because right now youââ¬â¢re looking at a guide that contains everything you need to know about research papers in the economics field. Economics research papers usually try to find out in what way a group or an individual would sort out a specific problem or react to a specific incentive. Additionally, they also explore how variables change under the influence of exogenous shock. There are 2 main types of economics research papers that you are likely to get as assignments: Theoretical. The aim of this paper is to prove that a certain model can exist. It can be a model developed by another researcher or the one created from scratch. The choice falls to the theoretical economics paper when there is not enough information for the model to be tested on reality examples. It is characterized by a great deal of mathematics, theorems, proofs, etc. Empirical. This type of research paper tests the model to determine whether it complies with the reality. Unlike theoretical pieces, it contains more prose than mathematics, and the results of the research are usually organized in tables. There are many more types of economics research papers like history papers, literature reviews, handbooks, etc., but the ones that we described are most commonly assigned. Itââ¬â¢s important to identify which sort of writing you have to produce because this way youââ¬â¢ll be able to choose the relevant topic. 4 Steps to Come up with the Right Title for the Paper The fact that each guide or manual on academic writing is shouting about the importance of the proper topic is for a reason ââ¬â a topic practically decides the fate of your writing! Thatââ¬â¢s why itââ¬â¢s essential to devote enough time on the search for your perfect topic that will allow you to create an excellent economics paper. So, in order to achieve that, you need to: 1. Find out What Type of Economic Research to Conduct As you can see, each piece of the information we provide you with is connected with the rest. For this reason weââ¬â¢ve told you about empirical and theoretical research papers, and you should take into account this division while making your choice. Just have a look at our list of sample topics to understand the difference. Empirical Economics Research Topics Theoretical Economics Research Topics How Income in June Affects the Expenses in June How Income in June Affects the Expenses in Future Months The Influence of Tanzaniaââ¬â¢s Economic Growth on the Status of Africa Future Global Consequences of Tanzaniaââ¬â¢s Economic Growth The Reasons of Unemployment among Fresh Graduates in the USA How the US Experience with Fresh Graduate Unemployment Can Be Used in Another Country to Avoid the Problem The Analysis of Oil Price Increase in Russia Possible Consequences of the Price Rise in Russia for Chinese Oil Shareholders Working Wife or Working Husband? The Family Chores Division The Difference Between Economic Decisions Made by Children with Working Father and Children with Working Mother 2. Settle upon Something That Is Important to You If you choose a certain topic just because it is hot right now or because your professor likes it, the success in such a case is very unlikely. You wonââ¬â¢t care enough to make the right investment of time and effort to deliver a well-researched economics research paper. On the other hand, if you choose a cause that is really significant and topical for you, you will be ready to spend sleepless nights looking for information and building up your theories. 3. Choose an Interesting Economics Topic You may say that itââ¬â¢s the same as selecting the topic that is important to you, and partly it is. But here weââ¬â¢re talking not only about you. You need to pick an issue that will manage to spark the interest of your professor as well. So, if youââ¬â¢re curious about why the prices on PS4 games have risen during the last years, make sure your supervisor is also thrilled to know the answer to that question. 4. Select the Issue Within the Courses You Have Taken This lifehack will make your life much easier ââ¬â if you settle upon the issue that you havenââ¬â¢t covered in any economics courses, youââ¬â¢ll spend a great deal of time ââ¬Å"accommodatingâ⬠yourself to a new field. However, if you stay with a fairly familiar topic, the researching and writing will go faster and smoother. These steps will help you critically evaluate your options and end up with a really suitable topic both for research and you. Writing a Research Proposal for an Economics Research Paper A research proposal is a small piece of writing that you create for your advisor or board committee. You describe the topic of your future paper and the direction of your research. After you submit the proposal, the consignee either approves or declines your project plan. But if you follow our economics research paper writing tips on writing it, there will surely be a positive outcome. So, your economics research proposal must: Be coherent and clear (short sentences, simple academic words, realistic expectations, etc.); Be properly structured (title page, literature review, research question, methodology, the progress of work plan, list of references); Contain no more than 3000 words. Basically, the main purpose of a research proposal is to persuade the public that your topic is worth researching, is very important for the whole field of studies and will bring significant findings. Maybe it will be also helpful in this situation to know the personalities of your supervisor and board members as youââ¬â¢ll know their points of contact and how to convince them. How to Structure an Economics Research Paper: Methods Our Writers Choose An economics research paper like any other academic piece has an established structure that comprises several very important elements. It is essential to know the purpose and necessary content for each part, thatââ¬â¢s why weââ¬â¢re going to dwell upon them in our further writing. Abstract This paragraph summarizes the whole economics research paper in maximum 200 words. Itââ¬â¢s quite challenging to stuff all the essential info in several sentences, but the practice shows that it is possible. So, in this synopsis, you need to focus only on the most significant points like: ââ" The topic of your work and the research question; ââ" Aims of the research; ââ" A few words about methods, discussion and results. Keep these points in mind while writing an abstract not to get into the weeds. Introduction There are 2 approaches to writing an introduction: creating it before all the other parts of a research paper or leaving it for the end. Both of them are working variants, but you should choose the one that seems more logical to you. In an introduction to the economics research paper, there should be 3 sections: A general overview of the research question. State why the answer hasnââ¬â¢t been found yet ââ¬â either previous researchers didnââ¬â¢t think about it from the angle you present or just didnââ¬â¢t cover it enough to come to some sort of an achievement. The aim of your paper. What exactly do you want to accomplish with your research? The stance of a writer. Whatââ¬â¢s in it for you? Why did you choose this topic and what do you intend to do with it? Answering these questions you will give the readers a general idea of what your position is. Make your introduction concise, clear and to-the-point. It is the first full-value part of your economics research paper, so it will 100% be inspected by your professor with an excellent precision. Take that into account! Methodology This stage doesnââ¬â¢t require a lot of efforts on your part ââ¬â you just need to enumerate the methods you have used to research the issue. The economics methodology may include statistical modelling, observation, computational methods, different types of analysis, deductive/inductive reasoning, etc. Just ensure you know what they mean and how they are applied to create adequate account of used methods. Results The results can be presented numerically, in the form of graphs or tables, or described with words. Of course, you will need to add your own commentary to link all the done work with findings, but donââ¬â¢t get too involved into discussing them as for that you have another section. Discussion Here you review your results including as much of your interpretation as you wish. The important aspect to do on the discussion stage is to connect this part with the introduction, i.e. to make sure youââ¬â¢ve achieved all aims, answered the research question and proved your thesis statement. Conclusion The conclusion is your paraphrased introduction with the addition of some other elements: here you need to emphasize the significance of your research findings and how they can be applied in practice in your field of studies as well as others. You may also extend on the prospects of the further research. References Well, a good and proper way to finish an economics research paper is to enlist all the resources that youââ¬â¢ve consulted and referred to while writing your piece. Donââ¬â¢t forget to format them according to the citation style youââ¬â¢re supposed to follow. 5 Fundamentals of Successful Economic Writing Crafting an economic paper is not that easy. If it was, there wouldnââ¬â¢t be so many guides on how to write/improve this and that to get a good mark. Consequently, weââ¬â¢ve prepared for you a list of 6 fundamental tips that may enhance your economics writing. NOTE: Donââ¬â¢t think about them while making an outline or creating your 1st draft. Itââ¬â¢s better to apply them when you conduct proofreading/editing sessions. Moreover, itââ¬â¢s not necessary to take each sentence and check with these principles. If you come across a paragraph that seems a bit off, you can make use of several tips to improve it. But you can certainly rely more on your own logic. 1. Make Your Subjects Short The readers are more eager to perceive the action than the subject. Thatââ¬â¢s why, very often they jump to verbs even without reading the noun. And if you make the subject too long (we know itââ¬â¢s tempting, especially with the official style of academic writing), youââ¬â¢ll confuse the reader. 2. Analyze instead of Analysis Use active verbs to make a statement. As weââ¬â¢ve mentioned in a previous comment, your readers make it all about verbs and understand the information better if itââ¬â¢s expressed with the help of action. 3. Sentence Structure: First Old Info, Then New Info Start every sentence by linking to the statement already mentioned in a previous piece, and leave new comments for the end. This way you make your writing flow and the reader doesnââ¬â¢t ââ¬Å"stumbleâ⬠on incoherent bits of data. 4. Avoid Passive Voice Although passive voice is a certain feature of a formal style of writing, many experts still advise to minimize it in your writing. It makes it difficult to get who is the doer of the action, thus reading takes more time than it could have with the active voice. 5. One Paragraph = One Thought Donââ¬â¢t stuff your paragraphs with many concepts just because you want to include as much information as possible. Remember the formula ââ¬â one paragraph equals one subtopic. This way you make it easier for the reader to concentrate on the issues you discuss. This economics research paper writing guide covers all the significant parts of an economics research paper. It is important for you to deal with one part at a time to produce high-quality writing. So, use our manual to do just that and earn a good grade!

High Budget Deficits Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
High Budget Deficits - Essay Example Budget deficits, on the other hand, are the amounts in deficit of what the individuals spending, government or even a companies or corporations spending are short of the planned incomes from the entities sources. In another name, deficit spending may be the other terminology of budget deficits. Over the past years, budget deficits of countries, most so the developing countries, have attracted a lot of publicity. This has been majorly witnessed over the past two decades of which financial restructuring and turbulence have been witnessed (Associated Press 2010). The country where the impact is witnessed is attributable to the assorted financial ills bedeviling such countries; the countries base their expenditures from high debts due to extensive borrowing, high and ever growing rates of inflation and investment problems attributed to poor investment and their poor growth performance of such investments (Associated Press 2010). The poor government financial position, most so in regards to budgets, results to poor economic growth rates. The factors that fuel these rates are the poor growth of government revenues due to poor collection measures and tools. The budgeting process, which is not well structured, is also blamed for it in a major proportion. Others include the levels of economic development, which is low and unstable. World macroeconomic shocks, like the Great Depression and poor ways in which the government controls its expenditure, have in the past been witnessed to impact on the government financial position (Associated Press 2010). The methods used to finance any form of budget deficit will always result into an imbalance in one way or the other. For instance, if local borrowing is used, then the crowding out effect of the private investments occur leading to the collapse of the private firms which may even end up causing more harm to the economy. The budgeting process of most countries has so many loops and is, therefore, responsible for most countrie s budget deficits apart from the government participation in most economies and even the other factors as discussed above. According to reports, it is in record that budget deficits have several impacts on some economic sectors, such as private consumption, private investments, the T-bill rates, current account, and even money supply into the economy (BBC 2010). The aspects that the deficit has impact on as discussed above are major pillars for the measure of any economic growth of a country. Budget deficits have been recorded to reduce money supply into the economy; this majorly results when domestic borrowing is given an upper hand (BBC 2010). Intensified domestic borrowing may also lead to the collapse of private sector firms as a result of crowding out effect. I may, therefore, comfortably conclude that budget deficits in any economy are harmful to economic growth rates since they lower the growth rates. The causes of budget deficit are many and they include most major governmen t stakeholders (individuals, companies, and corporations) who evade taxation. It is in record that many US firms use the fair share of the infrastructure by the government but they donââ¬â¢t pay their fair share of the taxation; they use the roads, defense, grants and even emergency services (BBC 2010). Despite the companies making huge profits from the countries resources, they try as much as they could to evade

The Bruce Tuckman Model Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The Bruce Tuckman Model - Coursework Example She does not appear to have any interest in the workplace and she finds her work boring and therefore, she may come late to the office. Nevertheless, upon finding her work interesting, she takes to the next level of performance as noted in the case description. Still, the management has to give her more responsibility so that she can consider herself a valued member of the crew. For starters, the organization needs to make her a team-leader and ask her to be on time because now she will have a set of subordinates whom would look up to her for deriving inspiration (Salas, Rosen, & King, 2007). The female is a competent worker and one she will have a lot of responsibility under her belt then her behavior will get matured over time. Workers whom are trying to get away with laziness are of the view that they are equally important for the organization as her but they are apparently not so the management has to clarify by taking stiff action that not everyone is going to be tolerated with unacceptable work behaviors. Additionally, the champ has to be disciplined if her behavior does not improve in parallel to the increase in terms of her authority in the organization and then she will have to be put into progressive disciplinary action. On the other hand, my personal feelings are irrelevant regarding achieving an effective resolve of the situation. I personally feel that blessing her with adequate level of power in the company will have the ability to strait her abilities in a better way. The model of Tuckman is no doubt an important tool used for team building but the current problem is attached with trouble in normalizing the performance (Tuckman & Jensen, 1977). However, in order to correct the flaw, management has to step back and conduct a storming session in the headship of a troubled employee so that she can significantly contribute towards assigning roles and responsibilities to those who intend to serve under her. Conclusively, the proposed
Walmart Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Walmart - Case Study Example Wal-Mart has not been as successful in the e-commerce marketplace as other online vendors such as EBay and Amazon. A third weakness of Wal-Mart is its high operating costs including having the largest private workforce in the world. During the last two fiscal years the companyââ¬â¢s operating expenses increased by 2.7% and 1.7% respectively (Walmartstores, 2011). The company is also susceptible to a variety of risks including foreign currency, lawsuits, and impairment of assets. I think that the neighborhood store format is at conflict with the companyââ¬â¢s grand strategy of offering its customers the lowest prices in the retail market. The firm has always place high emphasis on running an efficient operation without any unnecessary added costs. The concept of the neighborhood store format goes against Wal-Martââ¬â¢s strategy of standardizing its stores in the United States. The firm is able to lower its infrastructure costs by using a similar format in all its stores. Economies of scales are achieved at Wal-Mart by purchasing goods in bulk. Economies of scale are a key advantage for a business because it lowers a firmââ¬â¢s cost per unit (Tutor2u, 2012). Wal-Mart has been able to differentiate its product offering by providing its customers with a higher variety of items at lower prices. The neighborhood store format threatens Wal-Martââ¬â¢s corporate culture and its long term success in the retail industry. The retail industry generated reven ues in the United States of $4,691 billion in 2011 (Plunkettresearchonline, 2012). Wal-Mart should expect a variety of challenges in its international expansion efforts. The first challenge the company faces is being able to carry over its US brand value into the international markets. Wal-Mart has gained its brand value through the accumulative efforts of its founder, managers and employees for over 50 years. Once the company started to operate outside the United States the company had to start from scratch by

Stevie Wonder's Misrepresented People Research Paper
Stevie Wonder's Misrepresented People - Research Paper Example Most of the African Americans were subject to ââ¬Å"forced laborâ⬠(Boundless Learning 178; Butler 126). They were literally deprived of having the opportunity to gain access to proper education but also to get some decent paying jobs, attend churches, enter a hotel, have the right to vote, or to even participate in politics (Tischauser 86). Due to hatred, most of the African Americans were also not allowed to reside in the West (Tischauser 86). Back then, only 8% of the African Americans were treated as free (Boundless Learning 178). Instead of receiving formal education in schools, most of them were taught by the Muslim people. During the 17th century, the Europeans did not only enslave the African Americans but also ââ¬Å"committed genocide against indigenous Americansâ⬠(Zach 169). ââ¬Å"In the so-called ââ¬Å"Land of Godâ⬠My kind were treated hard. We have been a misrepresented people.â⬠(3) The second and third stanza expresses the idea that God created all human kind equally; yet they were treated badly by other race because of their ââ¬Å"skin colorâ⬠(Tischauser 86). ... (4) The fourth stanza talks about the development on how the African Americans were made free from forced slavery. In relation to Berlinââ¬â¢s Freedom Project, the African Americans became active in fighting for their ââ¬Å"liberalizationâ⬠and ââ¬Å"emancipationâ⬠(Barney 56). After the African American soldiers went through a series of civil war, the African Americans had finally won their freedom from slavery (Barney 56). In fact, the civil war back then became a significant part of the American Revolution which has lead to the development of the concept of democracy and equality (Alexander and Rucker xxxiv). It was in the 20th century when the African Americans had finally had a complete freedom from their past. It was also in the 20th century when the African Americans were free to speak out their thoughts and ideas. ââ¬Å"But while I prayed to God My moms and pops got whored. (9) The fifth, sixth, and ninth stanza strongly suggest that no matter what the African Americans do, there are still some people around the world who looks down on them. Over the past few decades, the African Americans have fought for their freedom and equal rights as human beings. Yet, despite winning a lot of victories over their freedom, some of them are still experiencing inequality and racial discrimination. All these are very much evident with the kind of job and educational opportunity that majority of the
The Life Of Kurt Vonnegut Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 7500 words
The Life Of Kurt Vonnegut - Essay Example After the war, Kurt attended the University of Chicago as a graduate student in anthropology and also worked at the City News Bureau of Chicago. He described his work there in the late 1940s in terms that could have been used by almost any other City Press reporter of any era: "Well, the Chicago City News Bureau was a tripwire for all the newspapers in town when I was there, and there were five papers, I think. We were out all the time around the clock and every time we came across a really juicy murder or scandal or whatever, theyââ¬â¢d send the big time reporters and photographers, otherwise, theyââ¬â¢d run our stories. So thatââ¬â¢s what I was doing, and I was going to university at the same time."[15] Vonnegut admitted that he was a poor anthropology student, with one professor remarking that some of the students were going to be professional anthropologists and he was not one of them. According to Vonnegut in Bagombo Snuff Box, the university rejected his first thesis o n the necessity of accounting for the similarities between Cubist painters and the leaders of late 19th Century Native American uprisings, saying it was "unprofessional." He left Chicago to work in Schenectady, New York, in public relations for General Electric, where his brother Bernard worked in the research department. Vonnegut was a technical writer but was also known for writing well past his typical hours while working. While in Schenectady, Vonnegut lived in the tiny hamlet of Alplaus just across the Mohawk River from the city of Schenectady.

Understanding Cryptography Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Understanding Cryptography - Essay Example Cryptography is somehow omnipresent going beyond the conventional environments such as banking systems, government communications among others (Christoff, 2009). Cryptography is now used in web browsers, cell phones, e-mail programs, embedded software, manufacturing systems, cars, medical plants, smart buildings among others (Christoff, 2009). Therefore, designers and system users need to understand comprehensively the concept of cryptography and how it is applied in order to appreciate its effectiveness in securing wireless networks and communication. According to Christoff (2009), cryptography is the study and practice of techniques for securing communication particularly in the presence of a third party (adversary). Essentially, cryptography is mainly concerned with the development and determining protocols that protect against the influence of third parties in communication and networking. It also analyzes protocols and mechanisms that are related to information security aspects including data integrity, confidentiality, non-repudiation and authentication (Paar & Pelzl, 2010). Over the years, various techniques similar to encryption have been used as cryptography. However, modern cryptography borrows from disciplines of computer science, mathematics and electrical engineering among others. Cryptography is predominantly used in computer passwords, e-commerce, and ATM cards. It employs several tools and techniques to implement the security needed for the various applications (Christoff, 2009). OpenSSL is one of the tools of cryptography that implements the SSL and the TSS security protocols in the network (Viega, Messier, & Chendra, 2002). It is mainly used in many web servers to transmit packets in encrypted form rather than in plain readable text. Open SSL has a core library that is developed in C programming language and is used for the implementation of the basic cryptographic functions and the
Evaluation of five sites Essay Example for Free
Evaluation of five sites Essay The first website which I have chosen to do an evaluation on is a mobile company called, Vodafone. www. vodafone. co. uk The purpose of this website is to give Vodafone customers a chance to see the new deals the company have to offer, and to view the latest mobile handsets on the market. I my first impression of this website, is that it is very basic and easy to understand. The website designer has kept the theme of grey and red colours, throughout the whole website. I feel that this gives the feeling to the users a sense of professionalism. The website is full of hyperlinks which are quite easy to follow as, they are marked quite clearly. The website has been divided into six sections, but to view most of these you must register your details. By registering your details you are entitled to access free monthly web texts, and also you may be able to receive free registering credit. These offers are highlighted quite clearly on the website these make it appealing for the user to continue to brose the website. This will then entail the users to become a regular user of the Vodafone services. To conclude I feel that this website is quite appealing and I feel that the use of colour is just right, as too much colour may lead users to think that the website is designed for younger use. I liked the website because, it had attractive special offers to regular computer users and Vodafone customers. Overall I give this website a rating of 9/10. My second evaluation is on the website for the television soap, Eastenders. Here is the homepage of the website: This website is designed to provide viewers of the latest storylines, information on the soaps charters and also there are games for those to have a better understanding on what is going on the weekly soap. My first impression of this website is quite different to that of the Vodafone website. I feel now after viewing the graphics to this, the Vodafone website is quite plain. I feel that this homepage would be very appealing to people of all ages whom are interested in the daily soap. There are many different hyperlinks which lead into a series of completely different areas of the website. These different areas include, backstage knowledge, games, latest storylines and competitions. These are quite easy to access and are marked very clearly for anyone who visits the website for the first time. The colours, which have been used, are very imaginative, and very eye catching. In the background it has a picture of one of the leading ladies who is taking part in this weeks biggest storyline. This makes the user feel interested in what is going to happen in the next episode; therefore they stay to view the link. Overall I think so far out of the two website I have viewed that this would appeal most to me as a regular user of the Internet and its services. The third website which I have chosen to evaluate is a well-known music television programme called, cd: UK www. cduk. com It is designed to show viewers what goes on behind the scenes, up and coming venues and dates, information on the weekly stars which appear on the show, and the latest music charts in UK I found that this website was very eye-catching, with bright colours and imaginative. But the first thing that I noticed was the unnecessary icons in which the web designer has included. Users are able to change the background colour of the website which really in no use or in connection with the website or what it is about. Also to view the comments, which the readers have written there, is a very awkward scroll that you have to use. I feel that young sers or those with disabilities would not very easily use this, as it is not marked clearly on the page. On the other hand I feel that the graphics are quite good once you find your way around them though its hard to find your way around. I feel that this website could be improved a lot if the scroll bar was presented in a more simplified manner to make it user to access the information. Also if unnecessary things such as colour changes were not on the homepage would make this more appealing to older Internet users. My fourth evaluation is on a movie website, www. harrypotter. com: My first impression of this website is that it keeps the theme of ancient drawings and colours throughout the website. Which I feel is quite relevant to the movie. There is plenty of hyperlinks, which gives many clips form, the actual movie, which for those who havent seen it would be encourage doing so. I think that the graphics here are particularly good, again with an ancient feeling. I found that this was quite simple to use, and I could make my way around the various links very easily. By simply clinking on the enter link, you are able to take a look inside the castle in which the movie is based inside, which has very detailed graphics which, I feel are very impressive. Also again there is a message board for the viewers to post their comments about the website. Overall I think that this website has had the best graphics so far, and is quite interesting for the viewer to browse through. I dont think that I could point out any main features that could be improved as, I was very impressed with the whole website. My fifth and final evaluation is on the website.

Literature and communities
Literature and communities Literature can help people to get a real in depth view of life through someone elses shoes. You can almost get lost into another world while reading a book. No matter if that world is fiction or non-fiction, it can take the reader to an unfamiliar place and make them feel comfortable in that space. A person can take something away from what they have read in some form of literature and put it to use into their communities. Something as simple as a feeling, viewpoint, or even a new perspective, can bring a new knowledge on the whole outlook of something. Literature can help to add culture to a readers life. Anytime a person adds culture to their life, they would have a positive affect on our society because they have been enriched with literature. Everyone has different points of view that they wish to express in life, regardless of the theme. Everyone also has different opinions as with literature. Each individual that reads a poem or a story is affected by it differently. However, t he common ground for literature and the community and every person that reads it is this: we all must start at the beginning before we get to the last page or line from a poem. Every community has been affected by literature since the beginning of time. At first, many people did not have the pleasures of being able to read and write and therefore could not appreciate literature. But once they were taught how to read, interests in reading became popular through many communities. Communities are affected by historical stories, autobiographies, fiction, non-fiction, and even poetry told by authors. It is somewhat like a domino effect that has been happening for many years and it will continue to grow and affect those in the future. The readings from this pasts week even show how communities are affected by literature. My first example is in the ââ¬Å"The Prodigal Sonâ⬠by Luke, (cited in DiYanni, 2007, page 27) is two sons and their father. One son works by his fathers side without complaining. The other son, however, asks for his inheritance as soon as he is old enough to speak with his father about it. The father in this story does as per his sons request and sells his half of the land and gives the money to his son. That son wastefully spends all of his fortune and loses all of his friends when the money is gone. He ends up homeless and becomes very desperate until he realizes that he will go home and ask his father to become one of his servants. The servants were not as poor and desperate as he was becoming. Naturally his father was so delighted by having his son come home that he holds a feast in honor of the son returning. Then the other son complains to his father about being loyal while the other son did not remain loyal. The father answers his sons complaint with a great explanation: ââ¬Å"son thou art ever with me and all that I have is thinefor this thy brother was dead and is alive again: and was lost and is now foundâ⬠(cited in DiYanni, 2007, page 28). The father was simply saying that what is his is theirs and he was thankful that his son learned his life lesson. This story affects the community because it gives people a sense of hope when there is despair. Even when people can bring on their own problems by selfish acts, faith, hope, and love can help people get through the toughest of times. I feel that this story has a very prominent part of the religious community. A person can still receive forgiveness in spite of the fact of the thing they may have done wrong. I most certainly can relate to this story because I have know that I have hurt my mother time and time again, but no matter how big and ridiculous my mistakes have been, she is always there to help and guide me. That is why I feel that if I am impacted by this story that my community is also. Another story from this weeks readings showing the relationship of how the community is affected by literature is ââ¬Å"APâ⬠by John Updike (cited in DiYanni, 2007, page 32). This story is about a young man that is employed by the same supermarket chain as in the title. He tries to suffer for three girls in hopes that they will notice him but they do not exactly give him the time of day. There are these three girls that go shopping in the store, but they are wearing nothing but bikinis. Being that they are inappropriately dressed, the store manager asks them to come into the store having their shoulders covered next time. The young man ends up quitting his job in the hopes of catching the girls attention. I believe that he wanted to be viewed as the hero for standing up for them; even though, the girls were in the wrong for coming into a store dressed that way in the first place (cited in DiYanni, 2007, 36). This story affects the community because there can be different ways t hat this sort of story can be viewed, and we could all learn from this sort of storyline. A person can take something away from what they have read in some form of literature and put it to use into their communities for the future. That something can be as simple as a feeling, viewpoint, or even a new perspective, that can bring a new knowledge on the whole outlook of something. A person with culture added to their life, has a positive affect on our society because they have been enriched with literature. Each individual that reads a poem or a story is affected by it differently. However, the common ground for literature and the community and every person that reads it is this: we all must start at the beginning before we get to the last page or line from a poem. This knowledge is something that stays with a person forever; not only here, but in every community. References: Di Yanni, R. (2007). Literature: reading fiction, poetry, and drama.
